NAM 212 and RUC 252 Charts Added

Charts produced from higher resolution grids of the NAM and RUC are available on the Model Page (Stills only at this time). Model data for these models will also be immediately available as it arrives and is processed instead of when the entire model run completes. If the new imagery is useful for you or if you have suggestions, please let us know.

The NAM model provides charts every 3 hours from 00-84 hours and the RUC imagery is created each hour and provides hourly charts from 00-18 hours.

Ohio State Weather

The following forecast for Columbus, Ohio is produced by students in the Atmospheric Science and Geography programs at The Ohio State University.

Columbus Forecast for May 30th

Overnight: partly cloudy, low near 63. Wednesday: partly cloudy, high near 80, wind west 10-20 m.p.h. Wednesday night: partly cloudy, low near 53, wind north 5-10 m.p.h. Thursday: increasing clouds, high in the lower 70s, wind east 5-15 m.p.h.

Wx Synopsis

High pressure over North Dakota will begin to push cooler and drier air into our region. The high will also cause brisk westerly winds during the day on Wednesday. As the high moves closer to Ohio the winds will diminish and the temperature on Wednesday night will drop into the lower 50s. A low will develop over the central U.S. and move toward the Ohio Valley on Thursday. The low will produce an increase in cloud cover and a chance for precipitation by late on Thursday. We will have a better chance for rain on Friday. ***Tropical Depression Beryl*** At 11:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday the center of Tropical Depression Beryl was located at latitude 32.2N and longitude 81.3W which put it about 20 miles west-northwest of Savannah, Georgia and about 85 miles west-southwest of Charleston, South Carolina. Beryl was moving toward the east-northeast at 10 m.p.h. It had maximum sustained winds of 30 m.p.h. and the minimum surface pressure was 1004 mb. The center of Beryl is likely to emerge over the Atlantic on Wednesday and it has a chance to intensify back into a tropical storm.
