NAM 212 and RUC 252 Charts Added

Charts produced from higher resolution grids of the NAM and RUC are available on the Model Page (Stills only at this time). Model data for these models will also be immediately available as it arrives and is processed instead of when the entire model run completes. If the new imagery is useful for you or if you have suggestions, please let us know.

The NAM model provides charts every 3 hours from 00-84 hours and the RUC imagery is created each hour and provides hourly charts from 00-18 hours.

Ohio State Weather

The following forecast for Columbus, Ohio is produced by students in the Atmospheric Science and Geography programs at The Ohio State University.

Columbus Forecast for Feb 14th

Overnight: overcast, temperature steady near 30, wind south 5-10 m.p.h. Tuesday: light snow developing by morning, 1-2 inches possible, high in the mid 30s, snow possibly changing to rain by afternoon, wind southwest 5-15 m.p.h. Tuesday night: cloudy

Wx Synopsis

A weakening upper level disturbance will move eastward toward Ohio and bring us a chance of light snow by Tuesday morning. Clouds and light southerly winds will keep the temperature nearly steady in the lower 30s overnight. One to two inches of snow are possible during the first half of Tuesday. The southerly winds will gradually increase the temperature into the middle 30s by afternoon. The warmer air will possibly change the snow over to rain before it ends. There is no strong push of colder air behind this system and so the low temperature on Wednesday morning night will be in the upper 20s. A low pressure system over Nevada will move eastward and affect our weather later in the week. Southerly winds ahead of the low will increase the temperature in the the mid 40s on Wednesday and to near 50 on Thursday. The low will get close enough to give us a chance of rain on Thursday.
